Admission Rules & Regulations

For admission to Undergraduate courses (UG) a candidate must have passed the higher secondary examination (10 +2) of TamilNadu or an examination (like passed the CBSE) recognized by the universities as equivalent thereto. The upper age limit for admission to UG courses will be 24 (Twenty Four) years as on 1st July of the year of admission.A relaxation of two years is permitted to Physically handicapped as per GO No.239 dated 03-09-1993. The supplementary candidates are Incorporate in the appropriate places in the rank list and they are eligible for admission if vacancies exist or arise.

The admission shall be made purely on the basis of merit, subject to the rule of the Government of Tamilnadu
                   31% for Open competition (OC)
                   30% for Backward classes (BC)
                   20% for Most Backward classes & Denotified Communities (MBC)
                   18% for Scheduled castes (SC) and 1% for Scheduled Tribes (ST)
Reservation is also given to the following categories as per guidelines of Directorate of Collegiate Education , Chennai.
                   Physically handicapped students.
                   Quota for ex-service men / Tamil students of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
                   Quota for outstanding sports persons.

For admission to Post graduate courses (PG), a candidate must have passed 3 years degree courses (under 10 + 2 + 3 pattern ) recognized by the university or any other examination as equivalent thereto. All graduates in any discipline are eligible for admission to Postgraduate courses in a language if they have studied the language either under part I or part II and if they have the required percentage of marks as per university norms.
